About the Role We are excited to announce openings for motivated pharmacists to join our Pharmacy Service team at Whangarei Hospital. We have full-time and part-time positions available, and we welcome applicants with varying levels of clinical experience. In this core pharmacist role, you will deliver a comprehensive, effective, and safe pharmaceutical service to both patients and staff in Te Tai Tokerau - Northland, primarily based at Whangarei Hospital. Your responsibilities will include providing clinical pharmacy services to inpatients, engaging in medicines reconciliation, conducting medication reviews and optimizations, facilitating discharges, offering patient counseling, and participating in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team collaborations. What We Can Offer You The remuneration for these positions ranges from $82,856 to $116,390 annually, which translates to $39.83 to $55.96 per hour for full-time equivalents, dependent on experience. We also provide a voluntary bonding scheme payment for new or recent graduate pharmacists who choose to work at Whangarei Hospital. You will receive tailored support designed for early career pharmacists, those returning to practice, and those without previous hospital experience. We encourage you to develop your clinical skills across various disciplines, and you will have opportunities for career advancement within clinical settings. These positions involve rotational ward-based work, allowing you to broaden your knowledge across diverse clinical areas while working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team. About the Team/Service/Location Whangarei Hospital is a medium-sized facility with approximately 260 beds, located about two hours north of Auckland. We serve a diverse and high-needs population and are committed to delivering patient-centered care. Our focus on achieving equitable health outcomes is driven by collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation. Our team consists of approximately 20 skilled pharmacists who provide clinical pharmacy services to various inpatient areas, including Medicine, Surgery, Older People's Health, Rehabilitation, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Children's Health, Mental Health, Infectious Diseases, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Cancer and Blood Services, and Renal Services. About You To be considered for this role, you must hold or be eligible for a current Annual Practising Certificate from the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand. If you are applying from outside of New Zealand, please indicate the registration route you are following and your current status in that process. While not essential, a postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical area and/or previous hospital pharmacy experience are highly desirable. Competency or a commitment to learning in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori is important, along with experience in initiatives that align with Te Tiriti principles and frameworks. Familiarity with Matauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly in healthcare contexts, is also beneficial.
