    About the Company Tradestaff Global is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and licensed electricians with commercial experience for an extraordinary opportunity at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the Summer of 2025/26. This unique role offers the chance to work in one of the most isolated yet stunning environments in the world, providing invaluable experience for those who are up for the challenge. About the Role The deployment period for these roles is anticipated to be from approximately October 2025 through to March 2026. Construction work in Antarctica requires dedicated team players who are ready to contribute hands-on and support each other in this demanding environment. The primary focus of the work will be commercial electrical tasks, including medium voltage systems. Candidates with experience in fabricating metal conduit, data cabling, security systems, and fire alarms will have a distinct advantage. You should be comfortable with various tasks, from reading electrical schematics to pulling wires. A current New Zealand Electrical Practicing License is required. If you have experience with any of the following, we encourage you to highlight this in your CV: - UPS battery systems and/or backup generator systems - Telecoms - Security system installation - Switchgear and transformer wiring - Fire alarms Requirements Please note that due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens with New Zealand or US passports who are currently and permanently residing and working in New Zealand can apply. Candidates must be willing to receive vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR. It is important to understand that these roles are not fly-in fly-out positions; you will be on-site for an extended duration. Work hours are long, typically six days a week. Start dates are approximate and contingent upon passing medical and dental examinations, obtaining security clearance, fulfilling your notice period, and ice flight availability. Additionally, candidates must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, possess a Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence, and maintain a clean criminal record. The application process can be lengthy, requiring patience as we work through each step. You may need to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams, and we will cover testing and flights if you are coming from outside the Bay of Plenty.
