About the Role
We are currently seeking a passionate and dynamic Sports Manager to lead and enhance surf sports across the Central Region. This full-time, fixed-term position will be based in Lower Hutt, Wellington, and will run until June 30, 2026. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of surf lifesaving by driving regional sport engagement, supporting clubs and volunteers, managing iconic events, and building pathways for athletes, coaches, and officials.

Requirements
- A thorough understanding of Surf Life Saving and surf sports events, backed by relevant experience.
- Proven experience in managing teams or individuals, with a focus on performance review and strong leadership skills.
- Familiarity with event management requirements and the ability to work variable hours as needed.
- A passion for success and a commitment to sporting achievement.
- Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to develop and maintain diverse stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally.
- An understanding of the needs of volunteers and stakeholders, with the ability to listen and support their aspirations.
- Well-developed communication skills that facilitate collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, combined with critical and analytical thinking skills.
- A strategic mindset, capable of seeing both the larger picture and finer details.
- A positive and professional demeanor that reflects our organizational values.
- The ability to thrive in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High proficiency in IT, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
- A proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem resolution.
