About the Role As a Children's Community Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role within our interdisciplinary team, delivering advanced nursing care to support the safety, independence, and self-care of whanau with pepi and tamariki who have complex health needs at home. In this position, you will visit tamariki and their families, providing specialist nursing care in a case management model. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of pediatric health areas, including acute, chronic, and complex medical care, neonatal care, and wound management. This senior nursing role requires you to work autonomously in the community, where you will advocate, consult, and collaborate with families to ensure their needs are met. We offer you a unique opportunity to engage in a specialized area of nursing practice, supported by a comprehensive orientation and supervision program. You will enjoy flexibility and autonomy in your work as part of a small yet supportive team of pediatric clinical nurse specialists, who operate throughout the week from Monday to Sunday, allowing you to avoid afternoon and night shifts. About Us Our Children’s Community Nurse Specialists are part of a broader Community Child Health Team based at Waitakere Hospital. We operate using a locality model to ensure consistency for families and leverage local knowledge. Home visits are arranged from our base, covering a wide area from the borders of New Lynn and Green Bay across West Auckland to Helensville, including a shared border with our north-based team in Kaukapakapa, with whom we maintain close working relationships. About You To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience: - A shared passion and commitment to whanau-centered care and cultural safety - A minimum of five years' experience in pediatric nursing, preferably within a New Zealand healthcare setting, including acute pediatrics - A Postgraduate Diploma in a specialty nursing practice or progress towards it - A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and a valid New Zealand driver’s license If you are seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity in a community setting, we encourage you to apply.
