About the Role
We are currently seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist to join our Vocational Rehabilitation team at Burwood Hospital. In this role, you will work closely with clients, their employers, general practitioners, and other treatment providers to ensure a safe and sustainable recovery and return to work process. You will meet clients and employers both at Burwood and onsite at their workplaces to develop structured rehabilitation plans aimed at achieving clear return-to-work dates.
The Vocational Rehabilitation team provides a work-specific functional program and closely monitors the rehabilitation journey of our clients to achieve the best possible outcomes for both clients and employers. As an Occupational Therapist, you will conduct assessments, provide education, and offer techniques and strategies to support individuals with acute neurological impairments in their employment journey.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and treatments in line with Occupational Therapy policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Educating clients and their employers about the return to work and recovery processes, as well as providing necessary resources.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and patient records.
- Contributing to the quality of service provision within the Vocational Rehabilitation service, the Occupational Therapy service, and the broader Burwood site.
About You
We are looking for candidates with experience working with individuals who have experienced neurological events, though this is not essential. The ideal applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with both clients and employers.
Key qualifications and attributes include:
- Capability to perform thorough assessments and flexibly integrate interventions, utilizing problem-solving skills and robust communication while being guided by client goals.
- Strong organizational skills and effective time management.
- Competency in te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori, or a commitment to beginning your learning journey in these areas.
- You must be a registered Occupational Therapist in New Zealand with a current annual practicing certificate or the ability to obtain one.
