About the Role In this position, the Cook will play a crucial role in preparing and cooking food, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our customers. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks that uphold our high standards, including: - Providing fast and efficient service to minimize customer wait times. - Ensuring that food preparation and presentation align with our restaurant's standards and specifications. - Maintaining appropriate stock levels to support continuous kitchen operations. - Reducing food waste through careful planning and portion control. - Preparing food in advance, applying proper preservation or freezing methods. - Customizing food preparation and recipes to meet customer preferences and dietary needs. - Identifying and addressing potential hazards to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. - Adhering to hygiene and safety regulations in accordance with New Zealand health and safety guidelines. - Keeping the kitchen and equipment clean and sanitized to meet high standards. - Reporting any incidents or concerns to the Manager promptly. - Following standard cooking procedures and seeking approval from the Head Chef for any necessary modifications. - Providing guidance and demonstrating cooking techniques to other team members, as directed by the Head Chef. - Undertaking additional tasks as reasonably requested by the Supervisor to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen. Requirements To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications and attributes: - A Level 4 qualification or higher in a related field, or at least 2 years of experience as a Cook. - Excellent food hygiene practices. - A high standard of personal hygiene and presentation. - The ability to perform well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. - Punctuality, organization, and the capability to multitask with attention to detail. - A collaborative approach, with effective communication skills. - Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
