About the Role
We are seeking a full-time, permanent Occupational Therapist to join our Vocational Rehabilitation team at Burwood Hospital. In this role, you will work collaboratively with clients, their employers, general practitioners, other treatment providers, and whanau to ensure a safe and effective recovery and return to work process.
As an Occupational Therapist in our Vocational Rehabilitation team, you will meet clients and employers both at Burwood and onsite at their workplaces. You will develop structured rehabilitation plans aimed at achieving clear return-to-work dates. Your responsibilities will include creating work-specific functional programs, monitoring clients' rehabilitation journeys, and striving for optimal outcomes for both clients and employers.
You will provide comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and treatments in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of practice for Occupational Therapy. Additionally, you will educate clients and their employers on the return-to-work and recovery processes, ensuring that all documentation and patient records are accurately maintained. You will also contribute to the quality of service provision within the Vocational Rehabilitation service, the Occupational Therapy service, and the broader Burwood site.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who has experience working with individuals who have experienced neurological events, as this will be advantageous. The ideal applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with clients and employers. Key attributes include:
- The ability to conduct thorough assessments and adapt interventions flexibly based on problem-solving and robust communication, always guided by client goals.
- Strong organizational skills and effective time management capabilities.
- Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori, or a commitment to begin learning and growing in these areas.
- A valid New Zealand Occupational Therapy registration and a current annual practicing certificate, or the ability to obtain one.
