We are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil contractor based in Auckland. Our client is known for their commitment to quality and excellence in civil, subdivision, and commercial projects.
About the Role
In this role, you will manage all aspects of cost estimation, forecasting, and financial control for civil infrastructure projects. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other essential documentation.
You will evaluate subcontractor quotations and negotiate contracts to ensure optimal value for money. Additionally, you will monitor project progress and provide accurate cost reporting, with a focus on identifying and managing variations and claims. You will work closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to maintain financial transparency and ensure alignment with contractual obligations. Compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and contract terms will be a key aspect of your work.
Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of our commercial practices.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in a contractor background, with a proven track record of estimating and winning large-scale projects.
- Proficiency in quantification and familiarity with standard methods of measurement and forms of contract.
- Experience with first-principle pricing and takeoffs.
- A practical, hands-on approach complemented by excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to provide accurate commercial advice to Construction Managers, Project Managers, and the Senior Management team.
- Strong communication skills, enabling you to convey information professionally and assertively to all stakeholders.
Benefits
