About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to join our team. In this role, you will partner with the business to actively manage and maintain the integrity of all financial aspects, from the creation of renewable energy projects through to their completion, payments, and invoicing. You will serve as a trusted advisor and collaborator with Project Managers and delivery teams to achieve commercial outcomes while driving process and system improvements to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial results. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is preferably based in Wellington, although Hamilton is also an option. The role encompasses both Management Accounting and Financial Accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring financial integrity through reconciliations
- Executing and completing month-end processes and generating insightful reports
- Assisting in budget preparation and forecasting
- Supporting Project Managers in the commercial aspects of contract management and project delivery
- Aiding the transactional areas of the business (Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable) in their day-to-day responsibilities
- Managing fixed assets accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
- Collaborating on projects with the CFO to improve the financial performance of the Group
- Reviewing and allocating costs to specific projects and ensuring accurate project accounting, including correct revenue recognition
- Driving and enhancing system integrity through improvements and process documentation
- Establishing and monitoring internal controls to ensure compliance with financial regulations
- Utilizing technology to streamline financial processes while promoting the use of data analytical tools for financial analysis and reporting
Requirements
To be successful in this hands-on role within our small finance team, you will need to be proactive and possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues across the business. The following qualifications and experience are essential:
- A relevant accounting qualification and NZICA CA/CPA membership, or equivalent
- A minimum of five years of accounting experience in a commercial, construction, or contracting environment; experience in the energy industry is advantageous but not required
- Proven financial management experience with a deep understanding of both financial and management accounting
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems; experience with MYOB Advanced would be advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and engage with stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Accountability for work output and standards
- A broad understanding of financial management principles
