About the Role
We are currently seeking a qualified professional for a permanent, part-time position in the Theatre Department at Kaitaia Hospital. This role involves providing safe operational anaesthetic and ancillary equipment to Anaesthetists in the operating theatre. You will offer direct clinical assistance to Anaesthetists and Intensivists, ensuring a high standard of patient care while being part of an integrated theatre team focused on the efficient functioning of the operating environment.
This part-time position entails working 36 hours per week, with a flexible roster covering Monday through Sunday to accommodate your lifestyle and personal commitments.
About Team/Service/Location
The Theatre Department at Kaitaia Hospital is dedicated to providing elective surgery and endoscopy procedures primarily for residents of the Far North and Northland regions. Our facilities include two operating theatres, eight day surgery beds, and three recovery beds. Additionally, the Endoscopy Unit features one procedure theatre and a four-bed day stay unit. Our patients are referred by General Practitioners and Specialist Consultants throughout the Northland District.

About You
To be considered for this position, you should possess a Certificate or Diploma in Anaesthetic Technology or an equivalent qualification. You must also be registered with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand and hold a current practicing certificate.
We require at least two years of post-qualification experience, including skills in paediatrics. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team. A commitment to practicing in a culturally safe manner is crucial, as is competency or a commitment to learning in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori.
Experience in projects or initiatives that align with the principles of Te Tiriti and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly in healthcare settings, will be highly regarded.
