About the Role
We are currently seeking a permanent part-time Cardiac Sonographer to join our Echo Team at the Christchurch Health Campus. This role is offered at 0.8 Full-Time Equivalent (64 hours per fortnight) with working hours scheduled between Monday and Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. On-call hours are also required as part of this position.
As a Cardiac Sonographer in our Echo department, you will work closely with our Echo consultants and be an integral part of the larger cardiac technical team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing and reporting echocardiograms, exercise echocardiograms, and assisting in dobutamine stress echocardiograms.
- Upholding professional ethics while demonstrating accountability and responsibility in your practice.
- Supervising and providing clinical training to trainees and/or students.
- Contributing to the development of departmental skills and standards while maintaining your knowledge and training to effectively conduct clinical procedures.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Cardiac Sonographer who holds the following qualifications:
- Current registration with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB) and a cardiac scope of practice.
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate is essential.
- A minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Ultrasound or an equivalent qualification.
- Empathy and a patient-centric approach to care.
- Strong organizational and technical skills.
- A commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.
- Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to beginning this journey.
While we prefer to hire an experienced Cardiac Sonographer, we also welcome applications from those currently in training.
