About the Role
In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the operational readiness of the New Zealand Defence Force's fleet of vehicles in Waiouru. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring peak performance and reliability of heavy diesel vehicles and plant equipment.
- Conducting routine maintenance servicing and safety tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
- Fault finding, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance to identify and address potential issues.
Requirements
We are seeking individuals who have a passion for the trade, a strong work ethic, and excellent teamwork skills. To succeed in this role, you will need:
- An NZQA qualification in Heavy Road Transport or be in the process of obtaining this qualification.
- A full class 1 and 2 license.
- A proactive approach to equipment maintenance.
- A positive attitude and a friendly demeanor.

Special Requirements
Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain a New Zealand Defence Security Clearance by meeting one of the following criteria:
- A New Zealand citizen, or
- A New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided in New Zealand for the past five years, or
- A citizen of Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, or the United States who holds a current work permit for New Zealand.
Additionally, you will be required to undergo pre-employment activities, including drug screening and vetting by New Zealand Police.
