About the Role We are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our oncology service team on a permanent basis, working 40 hours a fortnight (0.5 FTE). In this role, you will work alongside our nursing team to provide holistic specialist nurse assessment, care, and education to patients and their families diagnosed with cancer. As a Health Care Assistant, you will support nursing staff in delivering care, conducting one-to-one patient watches, and performing other tasks as directed. Each day will bring variety and opportunities to interact with patients, ensuring they receive the best possible experience while maintaining the flow of our services. Your working hours will be Monday to Friday, consisting of 4-hour shifts between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM. About the Team/Location Our Oncology Nursing team consists of community-focused specialized nurses who care for individuals with cancer throughout their treatment journey, including diagnostic assessments, survivorship, and palliative care. Services are provided in various settings, including patients' homes, chemotherapy and radiotherapy outpatient clinics, and hospital wards. About You We are seeking an enthusiastic and friendly individual who can connect with a wide range of people. Strong communication skills and a passion for helping others are essential. You should be flexible, honest, and reliable, with good IT and organizational skills being advantageous. While experience in the health sector is preferred, it is not required as comprehensive training will be provided. Qualifications Essential qualifications include: - Year 11 NCEA Level 1 English (or equivalent) - Year 11 NCEA Level 1 Maths (or equivalent) Working at Health New Zealand We are dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
