About the Role
We are experiencing ongoing growth in our Traffic Management Department and are seeking Traffic Controllers to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be instrumental in implementing and overseeing temporary traffic management at various State Highway worksites. You will interact with the public, including pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers, to ensure safe navigation through our traffic closures.
We provide comprehensive training and support to help you succeed in this position and become a qualified Traffic Management Operative. On a daily basis, you will work under the supervision of our Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) to:
- Set up worksites, including the placement of signs and cones
- Operate Stop/Go paddles or manually controlled portable traffic signals
- Assist with specialized activities, such as event management
- Direct traffic flow and manage communication via radio transmitters

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A full Class 1 driver’s license; a Class 2 license is preferred, and we can assist you in obtaining this
- A willingness to undergo on-the-job training to gain experience and advance in your career
- A positive attitude and a preference for working outdoors
- A strong focus on safety and quality
- Excellent customer service skills
- A good level of physical fitness
- Strong work ethic and punctuality
In addition, you should possess:
- A full Class 1 driver’s license; Class 2 is preferred
- Basic technology skills (smartphones/tablets)
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate traffic management setups
- Excellent communication skills
- A proactive approach to Health & Safety
