    Description

About the Company Tradestaff Global is currently inviting experienced flooring installers to express their interest in a unique opportunity to work at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the upcoming summer season. We are looking for dedicated professionals who are ready to take on the challenge of working in one of the most isolated and beautiful locations in the world. About the Role The summer season runs from October 2025 to March 2026, with deployment anticipated around October. While return dates will be confirmed later, we want to ensure that candidates understand the commitment involved in this role. As a flooring installer, you will be part of a large commercial construction project focusing on interior flooring installation. Your responsibilities will include preparation work, base leveling, laying carpet tiles, and rolled vinyl flooring, all while ensuring clean and accurate finishes. The tasks may be varied, yet some aspects can be repetitive, so precision and consistency are essential. Relevant experience in commercial flooring installation is a must. What’s on Offer? We provide flights from any major New Zealand airport, as well as food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance. The hourly rate is NZ$66.11, based on a contract that guarantees payment for 54 hours a week, paid fortnightly. All personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied. While this role demands hard work, the rewards are significant. You will have the opportunity to save money, gain invaluable experience, and forge lasting friendships. If you have ever dreamed of working in Antarctica, this could be the experience of a lifetime. What’s the Catch? Due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens with New Zealand or US passports who are currently and permanently residing in New Zealand may apply. Candidates must also be willing to receive the Flu, Tdap, and MMR vaccinations. These positions are not 'fly in, fly out' (FIFO). You will work long hours, six days a week, and start dates are subject to passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, your notice period, and ice flight availability. Successful candidates will also need to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. A Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver License and a clean criminal record are required. The application process is extensive, so patience is essential. Additionally, you must be prepared to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams, although we will cover testing and flights if you are traveling from outside the Bay of Plenty. What Now? To apply, please submit your application online along with an updated CV that highlights your commercial construction skills and experience, as well as the types of projects you have worked on. If your initial application is successful, we will reach out with further details regarding the interview and vetting process. We are looking for candidates who are IT literate, detail-oriented, and capable of following instructions while managing complex paperwork. What Are You Waiting For? Adventure awaits! Apply online now to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Please note that we can only accept online applications, and you will receive an automatic acknowledgment upon successful submission. We offer a wide variety of roles in the construction industry, including positions for carpenters, machine operators, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, duct installers, pipefitters, welders, and many more.
