About the Role
We are seeking a Psychologist to join our Community Mental Health Team at Taranaki Base Hospital in a permanent, full-time capacity (80 hours per fortnight). In this role, you will be an integral member of our multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include conducting psychological assessments, providing psychotherapy, facilitating therapeutic groups, and offering supervision and training to team members. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to deliver inpatient mental health services and participate in crisis intervention.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our team consists of Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, Nurses, and Psychiatrists. Most of your work will take place in a hospital setting, with occasional opportunities for community engagement. About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) in New Zealand
- Experience and passion for working with individuals experiencing significant mental health distress
- Strong assessment skills, particularly in conducting neuropsychological assessments and interpretations
- Proficient therapeutic skills and knowledge of a variety of therapeutic modalities
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to build relationships
- Flexibility to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership and supervision
- An understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a culturally safe approach to practice
- Enthusiasm for embracing new ideas and innovative thinking in service delivery
