About the Company New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) is dedicated to ensuring that the people of New Zealand have safe, appropriate, and timely access to blood and related services to meet their health needs. We are responsible for the collection, processing, and distribution of blood and related services across the country. Through the generosity of New Zealanders, we are able to save lives every day. Joining our organization is an opportunity to be part of a team that truly makes a difference in the community. About the Role We are currently seeking a Christchurch Logistics Team Leader to join our team. This position reports to the National Supply Chain Manager in Auckland and will lead a team of six Logistics Assistants based at the Christchurch Donor Centre. In this role, you will be responsible for our service delivery and will act as the key liaison point and frontline representative for our services. Your primary responsibilities will focus on two operational areas: Management of Dispatch Operations: You will lead daily operational activities related to the transportation and distribution of blood products from the Christchurch base. This includes ensuring that the right products are available at the right place and at the right time, managing stock movement, overseeing delivery schedules, and building strong relationships with other teams and customers. Management of Inwards Goods: You will ensure compliance, quality, and safety in a complex multi-temperature and highly regulated environment. This includes conducting quality control and inspection of inbound goods, leading stock control processes to ensure accuracy and proper documentation, and effectively managing fast-moving consumables. About You To succeed in this role, you will need exceptional communication skills combined with strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. You should be adept at problem-solving in complex environments and possess excellent leadership skills. Your leadership style should embody the shared values of NZBS as you manage daily operations and team performance. Ideal candidates will have strong leadership experience, preferably in a regulated environment such as pharmaceuticals or the medical industry. Experience in logistics or warehousing, along with a solid understanding of dispatch and distribution operations, is essential. You should be able to establish trusting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, possess outstanding organizational skills, and have the ability to prioritize effectively. An understanding of quality systems and processes, as well as health and safety regulations, is also important. A hands-on and pragmatic approach to operational challenges will be crucial in this role. What We Offer We provide opportunities for you to grow your leadership career within a unique health organization in New Zealand. You will receive 22 days of annual leave per year, which increases to 25 days after five years of service. Our team is focused on continuous improvement, quality, and efficiency, and you will be part of shaping the future of our organization. If you believe you meet the qualifications and are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of New Zealanders through your work, we encourage you to apply. Please note that we can only consider candidates who hold a legal entitlement to work in New Zealand and a current clean driver's license. Unfortunately, we are unable to support AEWV application processes. All applications will be handled with the utmost confidentiality. We reserve the right to process applications as they come in and may fill the role before the closing date.
