About the Role
In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and organized operation of our transfer station and recycling area. You will assist the public with general inquiries while maintaining a professional image for our company and delivering high-quality customer service.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the placement of waste and recyclables deposited by customers
- Operating onsite machinery and equipment, such as loaders and other heavy equipment
- Directing traffic and providing general information to customers
- Keeping all buildings, grounds, roadways, and landscaping in clean and tidy condition
- Performing general labor duties as needed
- Assisting with administrative tasks, including completing records and paperwork as directed
- Meeting targets for recycling and diverting waste from landfills
Requirements
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who possess:
- Previous experience as an operator, which would be advantageous
- A Forklift (OSH) license, which is desirable
- Appropriate endorsements for operating onsite machinery (a minimum W endorsement is preferred). We will provide training and support to obtain the necessary licenses for the right candidate.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A good level of fitness to perform the duties required
- Some experience with computers and systems, which would be beneficial
