About the Company Hays Recruitment is excited to announce a unique opportunity for skilled individuals to join our team for an assignment at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. This position offers the chance to work in one of the most remote and challenging environments on Earth while enjoying competitive compensation and various benefits. About the Role We are currently seeking expressions of interest for both a Qualified Plumber and an Apprentice Plumber. There are two intakes available for this assignment: Intake 1: October 2025 - February 2026 Intake 2: February 2026 - October 2026 The location, McMurdo Station, hosts approximately 1,000 residents during the summer season, providing a unique and adventurous working experience. Compensation rates are as follows: Apprentice Plumber: $35 per hour for wages, $45 per hour for contracting Qualified Plumber: $50 per hour for wages, $60 per hour for contracting Requirements To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications: - Unrestricted New Zealand work rights (please note that we do not provide sponsorship or visa variations) - Proven experience as a plumber, with references available - New Zealand Certificate in Plumbing (Level 4) or an equivalent qualification from overseas Benefits While working at McMurdo Station, you can expect: - Accommodation provided (shared room arrangement) - Free food - Free flights from any major New Zealand airport - A work schedule from Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Additionally, prior to starting, candidates will undergo: - Medical and dental checks - Criminal background and security checks - Vaccinations What to Do Now If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply through the provided link.
