Description
Payroll Officer, Richmond Health Hub, Fixed Term Full-Time
We are excited to offer an opportunity for individuals looking to enhance their payroll skills or embark on a new career in payroll. At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we operate under the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders. With over 20 collective agreements and numerous individual employment agreements, we provide a unique environment that supports your professional development in payroll.
About the Role
In this role, you will have the chance to expand your existing payroll skills or, if you come from a strong administrative background, you can start your journey in payroll. Our payroll team manages the end-to-end processing for over 3,000 employees across Nelson Marlborough, from Murchison to Blenheim. Utilizing a fully integrated roster-to-pay system, we effectively handle our large and complex payroll service.
Our primary focus is to deliver high-quality payroll services to our colleagues. We strive for excellence in all aspects of our work and are open to innovative ideas that can enhance our service. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months, requiring 80 hours of work per fortnight (1 FTE).
About the Team/Service/Location
Our payroll team consists of 7 Payroll Officers and 3 Payroll Technical staff. As the largest employer in the Nelson and Marlborough region, with nearly 3,200 employees, we offer extensive opportunities for professional growth. Our main locations include Nelson and Wairau Hospitals, as well as the Richmond and Marlborough Health Hubs, and we serve various communities throughout the region. While our work can be challenging, we are committed to making a positive impact. We value integrity, innovation, respect, and teamwork.
About You
We are seeking motivated applicants who embrace change and are customer-focused in a fast-paced environment. Key qualifications include:
- Strong administrative skills with a keen attention to detail
- Proven ability to work independently within a small team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated capacity to engage with and develop employees in using new technology, regardless of their varying levels of IT competency
- Proven ability to foster collaboration with stakeholders
A genuine interest in payroll and experience with Payroll/HRIS applications is essential. While knowledge of New Zealand payroll legislation, experience with roster-to-pay systems, and familiarity with AMS Software (LEADER, ACTOR, SQL) would be advantageous, we are willing to provide training for the right candidate with a strong administrative background and a desire to grow in payroll.
Please note that the successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid New Zealand visa at the time of application.
