About the Company
Whangarei Hospital - Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau is seeking dedicated professionals to join our team. Our institution prides itself on fostering growth, learning, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families. We are excited to offer a full-time, permanent position as a Paediatric Registrar, commencing in August 2026.
About the Role
This position offers a RACP accredited run for 24 months of paediatric basic training, as well as opportunities in advanced training in rural, general paediatrics, and community/developmental runs. We welcome trainees in Paediatrics, Rural Hospital Medicine, and Emergency Medicine.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
You will benefit from meaningful mentorship by working closely with experienced Consultants who are committed to nurturing future leaders in child health. Our hospital provides hands-on experience in diverse general paediatrics, alongside a busy Level 2 Neonatal Unit, with both inpatient and outpatient exposure.
We emphasize a learning environment that includes protected teaching time, collaboration with medical students, Trainee Interns, and two Paediatric Fellows on our team. Our well-resourced hospital has excellent connections with the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, radiology, and laboratories. You will also have opportunities to take initiative in service development, quality improvement, and teaching.
Living in Northland offers a unique lifestyle, with access to stunning white-sand beaches, surfing, hiking trails, and a genuinely friendly community—all just minutes away. As one of our recent Registrars stated, "It's the perfect place to learn, make an impact, and still have time to enjoy life."
