    Description

About the Company At Trade Me, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive and flexible workplace that values diversity. We are committed to helping our employees reach their full potential while delivering exceptional products and services to our customers. About the Role We are seeking a Senior Product Owner to join our Property team. This is a vital leadership position that serves as a key advocate for both customers and products within our Product Engineering teams, also known as squads. In this role, you will take strong ownership of outcomes, ensuring that our teams focus on the right priorities. You will lead critical trade-off decisions based on value and impact, and be accountable for delivering measurable outcomes that align with our key metrics. In this role, you can expect to: - Balance considerations of value, viability, feasibility, and usability, and be accountable for the short-term roadmap and delivery outcomes of the product. - Collaborate closely with the Product Manager and squad leadership to understand our strategic objectives, define OKRs, and formulate actionable plans. - Serve as the central point of contact between the business and squads, making decisions that maximize value while mitigating risk. - Contribute throughout the product delivery lifecycle, ensuring squads understand the intent, scope, and business value of their work and how it contributes to committed OKRs. - Consult with Product and Data Analysts to define success metrics, determine what needs to be captured, and establish analysis methods to create short feedback loops that enable data-driven decision-making. - Plan with squad capacity in mind, using flow metrics, leave, in-flight work, and relative sizing to negotiate delivery commitments. - Identify and actively manage dependencies, engaging with stakeholders to understand and agree on impacts and trade-offs upfront. - Lead release change and rollout planning, monitor new products or features once they are in production, and keep stakeholders informed of progress with proactive communication. - Monitor delivery progress and metrics, adjusting priorities and approaches as needed. - Contribute to the creation and maintenance of relevant product and process documentation. - Maintain a focus on the big picture, considering product and business goals, delivery, and operational risks in our work and systems. - Ensure that backlog items are well-defined, broken down, and prioritized to deliver rapid, incremental value to our customers and business. Requirements To succeed in this role, you will bring: - A minimum of 5 years of experience leading Product Engineering teams to deliver successful outcomes, along with a solid understanding of product, design, and engineering practices, particularly in web and mobile technologies. - Experience working in an agile development environment, with a strong grasp of agile methodologies. - A proven track record of developing flexible, value-driven product roadmaps that clarify direction, take ownership of outcomes, and deliver measurable results. - Proficiency in using outcome-based metrics to assess the impact of changes. - A results-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to deliver successful outcomes in fast-paced environments. - Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and motivate team members. - Excellent communication abilities, capable of explaining ideas clearly, listening attentively, and enhancing team communication. You should be confident in engaging with stakeholders, customers, and consumers. - Exceptional organizational skills, along with effective planning and facilitation capabilities. - Energy, drive, and enthusiasm for achieving excellent results, as well as a genuine desire to engage and motivate other team members. - Expertise in risk management and decision-making based on risk assessments. - Confidence in using collaborative tools to clarify work scope, sizing, trade-offs, dependencies, and other planning considerations (e.g., Miro, LucidChart, Jira). Benefits We understand that some candidates may hesitate to apply if they do not meet every requirement. If you are excited about this opportunity, we encourage you to submit your resume along with a brief cover note explaining your interest. Trade Me is an INZ accredited employer, and we truly value diversity while fostering a flexible workplace that encourages personal and professional growth.
