About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is deeply committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and aims to provide quality healthcare to all New Zealanders. We focus on building a health system that emphasizes partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centered care, and excellence through integration and collaboration.
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and adaptable Physiotherapist to join our Supported Transfer and Accelerated Rehab Team (START) based in Lakes Rotorua and Taupo Hospital. This permanent position entails a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, with the requirement to work five days a week, including some weekends.
The START program is designed for early supported discharge, accepting referrals for patients who are medically cleared for discharge but require individualized care plans and intensive holistic support to return home. The program offers up to four visits a day, seven days a week, utilizing Health Care Assistants under the supervision of Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and specialists as needed.
In this role, you will manage both the community workload of the Physiotherapy Team and the specific START workload. You will collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists, who will assess patients as needed, and participate in daily handover meetings and weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings led by a Nurse Practitioner.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and a valid New Zealand Driver's License. You should possess strong assessment skills and a broad range of experience, enabling you to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. We value a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to various shifts, ensuring excellent service delivery and teamwork throughout the week.
