About the Role
We are currently seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Quarry Machine Operator to join our team at the Luggate Quarry in Central Otago. This full-time position offers a dynamic blend of hands-on machine operation, plant maintenance, and collaborative teamwork in a supportive environment. In this role, you will be involved in the extraction and processing of materials, operating heavy machinery, and ensuring that all operations run smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate loaders, diggers, trucks, and other quarry machinery safely and efficiently.
- Extract and process materials from pits and stockpiles.
- Perform daily pre-start checks and conduct basic maintenance on plant and equipment.
- Assist with crushing and screening plant operations and maintenance.
- Monitor plant servicing and report any issues to the Quarry Foreman.
- Participate in daily pre-start meetings, hazard identification, and toolbox discussions.
Once trained, you will confidently operate the digger, loader, and crushing plant, contributing to both production and maintenance activities.
What You'll Bring to the Table
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience in crushing and screening operations.
- Proficiency in operating loaders and loading trucks.
- A safety-conscious mindset with strong health and safety discipline.
- Mechanical aptitude and confidence in basic maintenance tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
- Adaptability to work with diverse crews and under pressure.
- Willingness to work overtime or away from home as required.
- A professional and courteous approach in all interactions.
Minimum Requirements
- Class 2 license with WTR endorsement is preferred.
- Proven experience in quarry or similar heavy machinery environments.
