About the Role We are seeking a registered clinical psychologist to join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team based in Thames. This permanent, full-time position involves providing psychological support to children and adolescents experiencing acute distress and moderate to severe mental health challenges. In this role, you will: - Train and consult with allied health professionals and community partners to deliver psychologically informed, evidence-based care that is goal-directed and solution-focused. - Assess, formulate, and treat complex cases that require specialist psychological input. - Demonstrate training or a willingness to receive training in evidence-based treatments for eating disorders. - Assess Autism Spectrum Disorder in adolescents with confidence. - Conduct risk assessments and provide evidence-based short-term therapy interventions. About the Team Our Rural North Sector delivers a variety of secondary care mental health services across the Coromandel Peninsula and Hauraki region. Operating from the Manaaki Centre in Thames, we also have outreach clinics in several towns. We maintain close relationships with local NGOs and PHOs, and we are actively looking for a dedicated psychologist to meet the increasing demand for effective mental health care. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Hauraki, with easy access to three major cities. About Thames Thames Hospital is a modern 50-bed facility offering a comprehensive range of services, including an emergency department, inpatient care, day surgery, and low-acuity mental health care. Our hospital features 24-hour laboratory and radiology services, including advanced CT imaging. As an accredited training hub, we support medical students and junior doctors, providing robust quality improvement programs and continuing medical education opportunities. Our telehealth services are expanding to enhance care for inpatients and outpatients. Thames is a charming town rich in history and natural beauty. With a blend of colonial architecture, a vibrant arts scene, and a deep cultural heritage, including Maori history and gold mining, Thames is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. The Coromandel Ranges and Kauaeranga Valley offer hiking and camping opportunities, while the Hauraki Rail Trail is ideal for cycling. With numerous cafés, boutique shops, and local attractions, Thames provides a perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and community, making it an ideal place to advance your career. About You To be successful in this role, you should have: - Registration in a Clinical scope with the New Zealand Psychology Board or eligibility to obtain it. - A current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Psychology Board or eligibility to obtain it. - A valid full driver’s license. - Competency in te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori, or a commitment to initiating your learning journey. - Experience in upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in healthcare settings. - Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within a dynamic multidisciplinary team. - ICAMHS experience is preferred.
