About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and operationally focused individual to join our Hawkes Bay team as an Operations Manager. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our transport services, leading and supporting a dedicated team of 80 drivers. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure our fleet of vehicles is well-maintained and that our drivers are informed and prepared to deliver exceptional service to our customers.
This position operates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, making it an ideal fit for someone who excels in adapting to change and making quick, methodical decisions. You will ensure our network functions seamlessly throughout the week, with management support available after hours as needed.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the daily operations of our school bus and charter services to ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality transport.
- Rostering our fleet and drivers effectively.
- Processing payroll accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinating maintenance for our fleet of vehicles.
- Fostering a positive, supportive, and high-performing team culture, ensuring drivers feel valued and equipped for success.
- Enhancing client relationships by consistently exceeding customer expectations and delivering top-quality services.
- Promoting a proactive health and safety culture while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Providing regular cover for school runs as necessary.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you should possess:
- A strong focus on customer delivery.
- Proven experience in an operational leadership role.
- A positive, pragmatic, and balanced approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent skills in stakeholder partnership.
- Advanced technical skills with a willingness to adapt to new technologies.
- A current Class 2 and 4 driver’s license, with the ability to obtain a Passenger endorsement (we can assist with this).
- Experience in the transport industry is advantageous.
