About the Company At Cushman & Wakefield, we believe that people are the most important asset in the world. We are a growing global company committed to creating an inclusive and rewarding environment for our employees. Our focus on career progression and a promote-from-within culture allows us to leverage global opportunities and retain top talent. We celebrate diversity and are dedicated to fostering a workplace where everyone belongs. About the Role We are seeking a Grounds and Gardens Technician to join our team at the Waikeria Prison site. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering reactive, project, and planned maintenance services. Your primary focus will be on the proactive preventative maintenance of our sand-based rugby field. This includes tasks such as irrigation, mowing, top dressing, fertilisation, and weed treatment. Additionally, you will manage the collection and transportation of rubbish bins within the secure facility, maintain indoor plants around the office, and work closely with the prisoner employment manager to ensure that internal grassed areas and garden beds meet the required standards. About You To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of three years of experience in grounds and gardens maintenance, with turf management experience preferred. You will need to possess a sound knowledge and understanding of grounds and gardens standards and management requirements, as well as a minimum of five years of work experience overall. A valid driver’s license is required, and trade qualifications with NZ registration are preferred. Proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Excel, webmail, and the use of smartphones or tablets, is essential. You should also be Site Safe, Working at Heights, and Elevated Work Platforms qualified, although this is preferred rather than mandatory. Strong spoken and written English communication skills are essential, as is the ability to follow instructions and meet operational deadlines. We are looking for someone who is customer-focused and able to comply with Waikeria Site requirements. Benefits Joining Cushman & Wakefield offers numerous benefits, including free life and income replacement insurance, a supportive and flexible work environment, and opportunities for personal and professional development. We prioritize Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and expect our employees to have a good understanding of EHS requirements and behaviors in a commercial setting. The successful applicant will need to undergo a drug test, complete a Pre-employment Health Questionnaire, and pass a Ministry of Justice check. A review of any criminal convictions is also required for this role. We are committed to providing a work-life balance and fostering an inclusive environment. Our flexible work arrangements and focus on technology and autonomy help our employees achieve their career ambitions. We encourage continuous learning and development and offer a comprehensive employee benefits program. Candidates must be eligible to work in New Zealand to apply. Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. We envision a future where everyone belongs, and we support and celebrate inclusive causes every day. We embrace diversity and are dedicated to ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion are integral to our global community.
