Description
About the Company
At Tauranga City Council, we play a vital role in enhancing the community by maintaining and improving our public spaces. Our City Operations Team focuses on the upkeep of green areas, including reserves, walkways, gardens, playgrounds, and more. We are committed to providing efficient and quality service with the goal of making Tauranga a better place for everyone.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated team member to help build and maintain structures within the city’s parks and reserves. This position is ideal for someone who is practical, possesses a strong work ethic, and enjoys completing tasks efficiently.
The role is hands-on and physically demanding, involving diverse tasks such as installing signage and bollards, constructing various types of fences, refreshing sand ladders, seating, and picnic tables, pouring concrete, maintaining playgrounds, removing graffiti, painting, and renewing cushion fill. Our community values these parks and reserves, so we are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and appreciates quality.
We seek proactive and passionate individuals who prioritize health and safety, can work independently, are reliable, and can adapt to changing plans. It is essential that our team member understands the importance of keeping our community—our customers—satisfied at all times.
This position works from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, totaling 40 hours per week, with the possibility of earlier starts during the summer months. The role will be based at our Owens Place Mount Maunganui depot and reports directly to the Supervisor of Structures. This is a full-time, permanent position that includes a work vehicle and all necessary tools, although the vehicle cannot be used for personal purposes.
