As part of our commitment to excellence, we are currently seeking a proactive and professional Rates Officer to join our Rates and Debtors team for a one-year parental leave cover.
About the Role
In the role of Rates Officer, you will be essential in ensuring the accurate and efficient operation of our rating system. Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting and assessing annual rates and quarterly instalments
- Processing rates adjustments, refunds, and penalty runs
- Delivering excellent customer service to ratepayers and internal teams
- Promoting and processing rates rebates
- Assisting with the collection of rates and sundry debts, as well as payment arrangements
- Maintaining accurate records, including kerbside bin allocations and rates remissions
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within Local Government
- Strong numeracy, analytical, and communication skills
- Proficient computer skills with a genuine interest in leveraging technology for process improvements
- A friendly and professional demeanor, coupled with a commitment to customer service
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- A team-oriented attitude, along with the ability to work independently

The remuneration package for this role is competitive and will be determined based on your skills and experience, with a current range of $57,630 to $67,800. Starting salaries will reflect your knowledge, skills, and experience in relation to both the immediate team and the broader organization.
