About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Document Management Specialist (DMS) to join our Northpower Network team. This role goes beyond traditional paperwork duties; you will serve as a crucial enabler of operational excellence, technical accuracy, and safety within our network.
As the guardian of controlled documentation, you will manage the policies, standards, and frameworks that ensure the safe and efficient operation of our electricity network. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and technical experts to create, revise, and maintain these standards, ensuring they are accurate, compliant, and easily accessible. Your goal will be to establish a reliable source of truth for the entire network that is user-friendly and prepared for future needs.
Additionally, you will lead communications and training regarding changes to standards, empowering our teams and contractors to apply them confidently in the field.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing a simplified document control system that supports our engineering and operations teams.
- Partnering with technical experts to ensure that our standards remain relevant, current, and interconnected.
- Supporting compliance by aligning documentation with regulations, safety standards, and our Data Governance Framework.
- Driving continuous improvement through training, audits, and change communication.
- Acting as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in all aspects of document management.
About You
We are looking for someone who excels in creating structure and clarity, possesses a keen eye for detail, and is passionate about high-quality documentation. You will appreciate working across various teams and bringing a practical, people-centered approach to technical information.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have 3-5 years of experience in document management, preferably within the utilities or engineering sectors.
- Possess strong knowledge of document management systems and regulatory frameworks.
- Understand data governance principles, such as those outlined in the Data Management Body of Knowledge.
- Be comfortable collaborating with technical experts and senior leaders.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and document control platforms.
- Hold a tertiary qualification in engineering, information management, or a related field (preferred).
