About the Role
We are seeking a Class 2 Driver to join our dedicated wastewater and septic services team in Rotorua. This position is not just about driving; it is a hands-on field role that involves practical, physical work. You will be working outdoors and engaging in activities such as digging, hose work, and system cleaning, all while providing an essential service to the community.
As a Wastewater Service Technician, your main responsibility will be to pump out and clean septic tanks, sumps, and liquid waste systems using a specialized vacuum truck. You will work closely with experienced teammates and receive comprehensive training on our systems and procedures.
Your daily tasks will include:
- Driving a Class 2 (or higher) vacuum truck to residential, commercial, and rural properties
- Locating septic tank access points, including lids and inspection ports
- Performing manual digging and physical labor to expose tank lids as needed
- Connecting and managing suction hoses to safely remove sludge and effluent
- Operating onboard water-blasting equipment for thorough tank cleaning
- Carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
- Transporting waste to approved disposal facilities in accordance with environmental regulations
- Providing customers with clear and friendly advice on septic system care and maintenance
- Working as part of a two-person team
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
- A full Class 2 Driver Licence is essential
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual labor and digging
- Strong health and safety awareness with an environmentally responsible mindset
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively within a team
- Good communication skills and a professional, customer-facing approach
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Experience in wastewater, drainage, civil work, plumbing, or rural work is an advantage, but a positive attitude and strong work ethic are most important.
