We invite you to join our dynamic team as we expand our fleet based in Timaru with the new diesel-electric scampi vessel, San Koura Rangi. This state-of-the-art vessel features electric trawl winches that minimize fuel consumption and reduce our carbon footprint, reflecting our dedication to sustainable fishing practices. The name San Koura Rangi symbolizes our deep connection to the ocean and pays homage to the heritage of those who have always revered the sea. The vessel is expected to arrive on September 22nd, though this date is subject to change. The work pattern is set at 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off. Our scampi vessels operate throughout New Zealand waters, harvesting scampi from the Chatham Rise, Chatham, and Auckland Islands. Life Onboard - What to Expect As part of your responsibilities, you will be involved in the following: Scampi Processing: You will support factory operations by sorting, cleaning, and packing scampi to meet precise specifications, all while adhering to food safety and hygiene standards. Deck Duties: Your role will include assisting with trawl setup, gear retrieval, and general deck operations. Engineering Exposure: You will work alongside the vessel's engineering team, participating in day-to-day maintenance and gaining hands-on training to build your skills and experience under your MEC 6. We are looking for candidates who: - Hold a MEC 6 Certificate of Competency. - Are eager to gain practical engineering experience at sea. - Are physically fit and comfortable with hands-on, varied work. - Possess a positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and the resilience needed for life at sea. This position offers a unique opportunity to work across vessel operations while advancing your engineering career at sea. Each day brings new challenges, making the work physically demanding yet rewarding. Join us in shaping the future of sustainable fishing in New Zealand.
