    About the Company Tradestaff Global is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and experienced Structural Steel Welders to join a significant new-build commercial construction project at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. We are looking to deploy team members in September or October 2025. About the Role In this role, you will be responsible for assembling and welding large steel framing as part of our dynamic construction team. Previous hands-on experience in erecting large steel structures is essential. We value teamwork, so you will also be expected to support other trades and assist with general laboring as needed. Requirements To succeed in this position, you will need the following: - Vaccinations: You must be willing to receive Flu, Tdap, and MMR vaccinations. - Qualifications: You should hold a current 9606 ticket as a trade-qualified structural steel welder. If your ticket has expired, we may assist with re-certification; please clearly indicate the status of your 9606 ticket in your application. - Experience: A strong background in large structural steel erection is required. - Documentation: Proof of qualifications (current or expired) will be needed during the interview. - Resume: You should provide a detailed and up-to-date CV that outlines your skills, experience, and project history. - Technical Skills: Comfort with detailed paperwork and computer systems is necessary. - Patience: The application and mobilization process is thorough and may take several months to complete. We are looking for team players with a positive attitude who are eager to contribute to a hardworking and supportive team environment. Please note that this is a physically demanding role, requiring excellent fitness. You should be prepared for long hours, extreme weather conditions, and a fast-paced work environment. Expected Hours You will work approximately 54 hours per week, with a schedule of 6 days on and 1 day off. Hours remain consistent, even if weather conditions impact operations. Approximate Dates Deployment is expected in September or October 2025 for approximately 4 weeks. You will be away for the entire duration, with exact dates dependent on medical clearances, notice periods, and flight availability. Additionally, you may need to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams (with flights provided if necessary). Comprehensive medical and dental exams are required, and we will cover the costs. Background and criminal record checks will also be conducted. Eligibility Criteria Due to travel restrictions, we are only able to accept applications from New Zealand and US Citizens who hold New Zealand or US passports and are currently and permanently living and working in New Zealand. You must have a clean criminal record and a full Class 1 Driver's Licence. Please be prepared for a lengthy application process, as patience is essential when navigating the requirements.
