About the Role
We are seeking a casual Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy team. This position offers flexibility, allowing you to work with inpatients and/or in community settings based on your availability, skills, and the needs of our service. This role is an excellent opportunity to maintain a healthy work-life balance while leveraging your Occupational Therapy expertise.
Our Occupational Therapy team consists of dedicated professionals with varied experiences and skills. We cater to both inpatient wards and community-based referrals, and there is a significant demand for Occupational Therapy services. We prioritize supporting each other and ensuring that our community receives the highest quality of care possible. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with fellow Occupational Therapists, Allied Health Therapy Assistants, and our broader multi-disciplinary team. Strong time management, leadership, adaptability, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Occupational Therapy department is co-located with Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietitians, Social Work, and the Community Assessment and Rehabilitation team. We recently moved into a newly refurbished facility that includes modern clinician spaces, such as a large Occupational Therapy assessment bathroom, kitchen, and general assessment room.

About You
Our ideal candidate will possess:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive approach and reliability
- Competency in basic computer systems used within the hospital setting
- Experience or demonstrated potential to work in a healthcare environment
- The legal right to work in New Zealand
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift in accordance with patient handling guidelines
- A commitment to maintaining a high level of knowledge and skill in Occupational Therapy
- A Full New Zealand Driver's License
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to engage effectively with multi-disciplinary team members
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients, whanau, and community networks
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn
- Cultural sensitivity
