About the Role
We are seeking skilled and hands-on Dental Technicians to join our people-centered dental service, which is driven by technology and innovation. This role will be based at Middlemore Hospital, and you will work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
This position offers a unique opportunity to impact oral healthcare across various settings, including hospitals, mobile dental vans, schools, and community hubs. As a trusted expert in the field, you will ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of essential dental technologies, including digital X-rays, suction pumps, and sterilizers.
Role Focus:
- Commission, calibrate, and verify dental and medical equipment
- Diagnose and repair systems with a focus on patient safety
- Troubleshoot faults and lead maintenance and risk programs
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand health and safety standards
- Train clinical staff on the safe and effective use of equipment
- Integrate technology into clinical workflows
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (NZQA Level 7) in Clinical, Biomedical, or Electrical Engineering
- EWRB registration (endorsed for Medical Cardiac Protected Areas) or a plan to achieve it within 12 to 24 months
- An Ionising Radiation Use Licence
- Technical expertise, administrative skills, and a solid understanding of healthcare practices
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a calm, collaborative working style
- A commitment to patient safety, compliance, and innovation
- A full New Zealand Driver's Licence and eligibility to work in New Zealand
- A solutions-focused mindset, strong English communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to engage stakeholders
- Bonus: Experience with dental or oral health equipment
