About the Role
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Registered Nurse in the Theatre at Taranaki Base Hospital. This permanent part-time position is ideal for nurses who have a passion for theatre nursing and wish to enhance their skills across various specialties.
In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing services to our patients, ensuring they are at the center of everything we do. We are looking for experienced practitioners who can manage operating theatre procedures across multiple specialties.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering optimal patient care in the operating theatre, utilizing critical thinking as a foundational practice.
- Providing clear supervision and delegation to enrolled nurses and healthcare assistants.
- Performing delegated patient care tasks within the Theatre department.
- Being available for rostered duties as required by the Theatre schedule.
- Ensuring accountability in risk management, equipment maintenance, and patient safety.
- Communicating effectively with the theatre team and multidisciplinary team (MDT) members to foster a collaborative environment.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Te Whatu Ora Taranaki Operating Theatre Suite includes six operating theatres that cover a wide array of specialties. Our staffing schedule consists of nine-hour shifts, with on-call shifts from Monday to Thursday, transitioning to morning, afternoon, and night shifts from Friday to Sunday.

About You

- Recent and extensive experience in an operating theatre setting.

- Initiative and the ability to think critically in the theatre environment.
- A current Annual Practising Certificate.
