Description
About the Company
Tradestaff Global is dedicated to connecting skilled professionals with exciting job opportunities around the world. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and licensed plumbers with commercial experience for an extraordinary project at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for the upcoming summer season.
About the Role
The season runs from October 2025 to March 2026. Deployment is expected around October, with return dates to be confirmed at a later stage. Working in Antarctica is not for the faint-hearted; you will be residing for months in one of the most isolated yet stunning locations on the planet.
We are offering a comprehensive package that includes flights from any major New Zealand airport, food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance. The compensation for this role is $66.11 per hour, on a contract basis, with payments made fortnightly in New Zealand dollars for a total of 54 hours per week. All personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
This position demands hard work, but in return, you will receive competitive pay, the opportunity to save money while working away, invaluable experience, and the chance to forge lifelong friendships. If you have ever wanted to experience working in such a unique environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Requirements
Construction work in Antarctica requires dedicated team players willing to contribute across various tasks, including basic plumbing and repetitive duties. You must possess a current New Zealand Plumbing License.
Please note that due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens who hold New Zealand or US passports and are currently living and working in New Zealand are eligible to apply.
Vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR are required. These roles do not follow a ‘fly in fly out’ schedule, and the position involves long hours, working six days a week. Start dates are approximate and depend on successfully passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, fulfilling your notice period, and flight availability to the ice.
You must also pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and hold a Full Class 1 NZ Driver License, along with a clean criminal record. The application process can be lengthy, so candidates should be prepared to demonstrate patience.
Additionally, you will need to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental examinations. We will cover testing and flight costs if you are traveling from outside the Bay of Plenty.
