At Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington, we are dedicated to fostering an innovative and engaging digital environment. We are currently seeking a skilled individual to join our Digital Engagement team as a Senior Web Content Advisor, Marketing. This is a part-time, fixed-term role for a duration of 12 months to cover parental leave.
About the Role
In this position, you will take the lead in developing, maintaining, and continuously improving high-quality web content that puts user needs at the forefront. Your responsibilities will include providing training and practical support to web editors, contributing to user-informed content enhancements, and running analytics reports to assess the performance of the University’s websites. Your insights will help us improve customer journeys, user experiences, and search rankings.
You will collaborate closely with web editors and various stakeholders across the University to offer expert advice on content best practices. Your goal will be to address web-related challenges and ensure that content decisions are purposeful, user-centered, and aligned with our organizational objectives.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- Proven experience in writing, structuring, and editing web content that meets user needs and aligns with organizational goals.
- Demonstrated capability to lead or take significant responsibility for web content projects or workstreams.
- Strong knowledge of web best practices, including accessibility, usability, writing for the web, plain language, and content design.
- Proficiency in using web content management systems, along with a willingness to explore and adopt new digital tools.
- Experience providing advice, peer review, and/or training to stakeholders.
- The ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines effectively.
- A flexible, adaptable mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and a strong service ethic.
- The ability to identify content issues, customer challenges, and operational changes and proactively bring these to the team's attention to support ongoing improvements.
- At least five years of experience in web content, digital communications, or a related field within a complex organization.
