About the Role
We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team, reporting to the Regional Manager for Forestry. This position holds regional Health and Safety responsibilities for our branches in Whangarei, Tauranga, Kawerau, New Plymouth, and Napier. The role is based in Tauranga and will involve travel to our other locations.
We are looking for a candidate with operational health and safety experience who is eager to learn and develop a career in this field. Whether you have a background in Human Resources or have worked as a manager or supervisor in a hands-on role, we welcome those who wish to specialize in health and safety. This is a hands-on role that requires you to engage with and coach both staff and management while providing advice and support on health and safety matters. You will be responsible for anticipating risks and assisting branches in enhancing their safety controls. We are seeking someone who can effectively execute and promote health and safety initiatives, helping to embed safe practices into daily operations. Our main objective is to ensure that our employees return home safe and well every day. We are looking for a motivated individual with energy and drive, who can adapt, learn, and take ownership of health and safety in this region.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you will need strong administrative and organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and experience in conducting incident investigations and facilitating risk assessments. Familiarity with health and safety databases and the implementation of policies and procedures is also essential.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Practical experience in health and safety within an operational environment
- A sound understanding of current health and safety legislation
- Strong relationship-building skills and resilience
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- A desire to foster a strong safety culture
- The ability to travel regionally (a vehicle will be provided)
