About the Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Grounds Person to join our team at RNZAF Woodbourne. This position combines hands-on grounds maintenance with leadership responsibilities, allowing you to support and guide our team while remaining actively involved in outdoor tasks. Your daily activities will include mowing, trimming, and gardening, along with assisting the Grounds Supervisor in planning, task allocation, and ensuring that projects stay on schedule.
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced grounds person eager to advance their leadership skills while continuing to work closely with the tools of the trade.
What You Will Be Doing
In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of grounds and garden maintenance tasks to ensure high standards are met. Your duties will include:
- Carrying out diverse grounds and garden maintenance work
- Assisting with the scheduling and allocation of daily tasks to the team
- Keeping equipment, tools, and vehicles clean, safe, and well-maintained
- Supporting inspections, reporting, and quality checks
- Acting as a backup for the Grounds Supervisor as needed
- Helping to foster a safe, productive, and positive team environment
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Solid hands-on experience in gardening, horticulture, or grounds maintenance
- A Class 1 driver's license (essential)
- Horticulture qualifications (preferred, but not essential if you have relevant experience)
- A practical, hardworking, and reliable nature coupled with a positive attitude
- A team player who can also take initiative and organize tasks effectively
- The ability to obtain and maintain Defence site security clearance
