About the Role
We are currently seeking a Ward Administrator to join our team at Kenepuru Hospital. This is a permanent, part-time position (0.8 FTE) available exclusively to current Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora staff. As a Ward Administrator, you will play a crucial role in delivering friendly and professional front-of-house reception duties for the ward.
Your responsibilities will include providing exceptional customer service to all inquiries, ensuring accurate and timely data entry, and managing records effectively. Open communication with reporting lines and other teams is essential to ensure that your tasks are completed efficiently. The contributions you make are vital to the smooth operation of our clinical teams and wards.
The full salary range for this position is $72,035 - $79,573 (pro-rated).
About the Team/Service/Location
This role is situated within the wards, where you will collaborate closely with clinical staff and other healthcare providers to support the needs of the ward. You will also be part of the larger Ward Administration team, which spans all other wards, allowing for shared support and troubleshooting among colleagues.
Administratively, we report to Patient Administration Services (PAS), which consists of several clinical support areas, including the Booking Centre, Outpatient Reception, Call Centre, Clinical Typing, and Emergency Department. The efficient and accurate data capture in these departments is crucial for maintaining continuity in our patients’ care.

We are looking for a team player with the following qualifications:
- Proven customer service skills
- Strong adaptability and lateral thinking abilities, capable of multitasking effectively
- Up-to-date knowledge of computer software to manage data entry efficiently
- A proactive approach to troubleshooting tasks
- Ability to work autonomously and quickly learn new skills
- Capacity to perform well under pressure in a dynamic environment while maintaining standard administrative duties
