About the Role We are currently seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our busy teams in Hawkes Bay. Whether you are a local resident or looking for a new opportunity in the stunning landscape of New Zealand, we invite you to apply. In this role, you will be hands-on with a variety of diesel vehicles and equipment. Your key responsibilities will include: - Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults - Dismantling, repairing, and reassembling engines and components - Replacing worn or defective parts - Following service manuals and technical guides - Performing scheduled servicing, including oil changes, tune-ups, and lubrication - Testing and adjusting parts for optimal performance - Utilizing diagnostic tools and computer systems - Responding to breakdown callouts - Inspecting vehicles and providing advice on roadworthiness Requirements We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria: - A minimum of 3 years' experience working on diesel engines in New Zealand - A trade qualification is preferred, or equivalent experience - Proven ability to work with advanced diesel diagnostics, including OEM software, electronic control systems, and emissions control technologies commonly found in New Zealand fleets - Current hands-on experience with modern diagnostic tools and diesel technologies, particularly with late-model commercial and heavy diesel vehicles - Regular experience working on Kenworth trucks and similar heavy-duty vehicles; experience with Cummins and PACCAR engines is a strong advantage - Own tools and reliable transportation - A minimum of a New Zealand Class 2 licence - A strong commitment to health and safety - Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test - Two recent work references Benefits Joining our team comes with several benefits, including: - Competitive hourly wage of $30 - $40, depending on experience - Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week - Varied and challenging work - Long-term opportunities with reputable clients - Support from a dedicated recruiter who values your skills and career growth We look forward to hearing from you and discussing how you can take the next step in your mechanical career with Tradestaff in Hawkes Bay.
