About the Role
We are seeking psychiatrists with experience or an interest in addiction to join our team at Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth. The successful candidates will become part of a collaborative group of 12 psychiatrists and will receive support from a variety of professionals, including nursing staff, counselors, and psychologists, within our Addiction Service.
Our Mental Health Addiction Services offer a comprehensive range of specialist services across the Taranaki region, which encompasses New Plymouth City, the coastline, and the rural areas of South Taranaki such as Stratford and Hawera. We provide five distinct services:
- Acute Services, which includes a 23-bed inpatient unit (15 for adults, 4 for mental health services for older people, and 4 for intensive psychiatric care), an assessment and brief care crisis team, and a co-response team.
- Adult Mental Health, featuring two community teams and additional services such as maternal mental health, eating disorders, and early intervention.
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
- Mental Health Services for Older People.
- Addiction Services.
About the Team
You will join a dedicated team of 12 psychiatrists and collaborate with a range of professionals in the Addiction Service. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that we provide person-centered care and work together to improve the quality of our services.
