About the Role
We are seeking a qualified mechanical engineer who is looking for a dynamic and varied work environment. This is not your standard workshop role; we invite someone who enjoys hands-on involvement in various operational tasks. Your responsibilities will include gear maintenance, welding, safety checks, coordinating equipment logistics, and supporting port operations.
Location: Marsden Point Port
Status: Monday to Friday, 9-hour shifts with callout availability and weekend work as required.
Your job duties will include:
- Maintaining, repairing, and preparing gearstore equipment for shipping cargo operations.
- Performing safety checks and ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Managing inventory, coordinating equipment delivery and recovery, and keeping the gearstore organized and operational.
- Liaising with suppliers, operational teams, and maintenance staff to address equipment needs.
- Keeping accurate records of maintenance, timesheets, and equipment requests.
You will also need:
- A Level 3 Trade Certificate (minimum).
- Mechanical engineering experience.
- Welding experience.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A willingness to take on varied tasks and to further your skills through training.
- A full driver’s license and reliable transportation.
