Currently, we are looking for experienced Metal Fabricator Welders to join our team in the Manawatu/Whanganui region.
About the Role
In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the fabrication and welding of metal materials. Your role will involve marking, cutting, shaping, welding, and assembling metal to create or repair structures and products. Flexibility in work locations is essential, as you may be asked to assist with projects throughout New Zealand.
Key responsibilities include:
- Fabricating, installing, and repairing metal products such as vents, handrails, boilers, aircraft and boat parts, beams, and girders for construction projects.
- Preparing metal for fabrication and reading and interpreting engineering blueprints.
- Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines.
- Setting up metalwork machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes, and shears.
- Welding metal pieces using techniques such as MIG, TIG, or stick welding.
- Double-checking design specifications before commencing cutting work.
- Fabricating and constructing metal components.
- Grinding and finishing completed products.
- Inspecting finished products for defects to ensure all welds, joints, and parts meet quality standards, making necessary adjustments as required.
- Adhering to health and safety protocols and performing other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 2.5 years of relevant experience or a relevant qualification.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good time management, and a solid work ethic.
- Flexibility to work in various locations across the country.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry.
- A dedication to adhering to health and safety practices on-site.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
Benefits
We offer competitive pay, with a range from a minimum of $30.00 to a maximum of $35.00 per hour, depending on experience. You will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours of work per week.
Location
Your work may require travel to multiple locations throughout New Zealand, including Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
