About the Role
We are currently seeking Orchard Workers with Hydralada experience to join us for the avocado season. In this role, you will be responsible for various orchard practices, ensuring the health and productivity of our avocado trees. Your key responsibilities will include operating Hydralada equipment for both avocado picking and pruning, working safely at elevated heights, and taking care to minimize any damage to the fruit during the harvesting process.
In addition, you will undertake different types of pruning techniques, including stumped, hedge, and third/third/third pruning. You will also maintain height control of the trees, manage branch termination, and implement our summer pruning program to optimize light retention in the canopy. Other responsibilities include structural maintenance, repairs, and potentially chain saw work. Specific orchard practices will encompass pruning, injecting, ground fertilization, planting, and orchard development. Compliance with health and safety regulations and orchard hygiene standards is essential at all times.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need the following attributes:
- Hydralada experience is essential.
- Confidence in working at heights.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Industry knowledge, including experience in avocados, kiwifruit, horticulture, or the primary industry.
- A self-motivated and self-managed approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and enthusiasm for your work.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience, with the ability to shift strategies and embrace change.
- A proven ability to work as a team player to achieve optimal outcomes.
