Extrastaff is a dedicated Labour Hire Company committed to providing exceptional workforce solutions. We are currently seeking full-time Construction Technicians to join our team for deployment on infrastructure and commercial construction projects throughout New Zealand.
About the Role
We are offering full-time, permanent positions with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. Our pay structure ranges from a minimum of $25.00 to a maximum of $40.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. We provide all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools. You will have the opportunity to work on major infrastructure and commercial projects, with site locations determined by project demand.
Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Technician, your tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Complying with all aspects of contracts, projects, or tasks while delivering customer service that meets or exceeds expectations.
- Erecting scaffolding or ladders to assemble structures above ground level.
- Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete.
- Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture and installing hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors.
- Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding as necessary.
- Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using various tools.
- Performing general labor, including cleaning construction sites as directed by managers.
- Loading and unloading building and construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Completing any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who possess the following skills and experience:
- Some experience in the construction industry is preferred, but not essential.
- A friendly demeanor along with excellent time management and a strong work ethic is essential.
- A commitment to learning and developing skills within the industry.
- A sound knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to fabricate and install custom joinery and cabinetry.
- Experience in general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, skirting, and architraves.
- Strong measurement and material cutting skills.
- The ability to work as part of a team and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- Willingness to collaborate with other trades as needed.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
Although this role is listed in Marlborough, we are recruiting for positions across all regions of New Zealand, based on project requirements. The regions include:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
We invite applicants from any of these regions who are willing to travel or relocate as needed. Relocation costs will be covered by our company.
