About the Role We are currently seeking a Senior Baker to join our in-store Bakery Department. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the daily operations of the bakery, ensuring that a wide variety of high-quality, fresh baked products are available for sale at all times. Your responsibilities will include the preparation and production of a range of bakery items, such as bread, muffins, cakes, pies, pastries, and more. Requirements To be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following qualifications: - Comprehensive knowledge of baking standards and requirements. - Previous experience in a retail bakery environment, with a strong emphasis on scratch baking. - Flexibility to work all days of the week and availability to take on extra shifts as needed. - Physical fitness to lift weights up to 20 kilograms, such as flour bags. - Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English. - Ability to start early in the morning and work weekends. - A minimum of three years of practical experience in a bakery setting. Daily Tasks of the Senior Baker As a Senior Baker, your daily tasks will include: - Conducting compliance and safety checks on equipment and machinery to ensure they meet operational standards. - Operating various machines for molding dough and cutting biscuits. - Checking the quality of raw materials and finished products. - Kneading, maturing, cutting, molding, mixing, and shaping dough and pastry products. - Monitoring oven and prover temperatures, as well as product appearance, to ensure accurate cooking times. - Coordinating the processes of forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning, and cooling of bread, rolls, and pastry goods. - Glazing buns and pastries, as well as decorating cakes with cream and icing. - Emptying, cleaning, and greasing baking trays, tins, and other cooking equipment.
