We are dedicated to ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and equipment, and we are currently seeking a skilled Fitter Turner/Fitter Welder to join our team. This role is essential in supporting our ongoing projects and maintaining our commitment to excellence.
About the Role
In this position, you will be responsible for various tasks that contribute to our engineering operations. Your expertise in fitting and welding will be key in ensuring that machinery and equipment operate efficiently. You will engage in precise fitting and turning tasks, as well as manufacturing and assembly of components for hydro projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing fitting and turning tasks with a focus on high-quality machining for hydro projects.
- Manufacturing, fitting, and assembling parts and components to ensure precision and quality.
- Maintaining, modifying, and repairing machinery according to manufacturer specifications.
- Fitting, fabricating, welding, and assembling metal components and sub-assemblies.
- Participating in shutdown work to minimize downtime and ensure effective project completion.
- Promoting a positive culture of health and safety while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Supervising and mentoring a 2nd-year apprentice, providing guidance in fitting, turning, and welding techniques.
- Overseeing site work and ensuring that projects are completed safely and efficiently.
- Traveling to various project sites within the Waikato/BOP region as needed.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Experience in an engineering or manufacturing role.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.
- A Class 1 Full Driver's License.
- Certifications for working at heights and in confined spaces are advantageous.
- Knowledge in hydro and geothermal projects is preferred.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Proven experience as a Fitter/Welder with a strong skill set in both fitting and welding.
- Previous supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and mentor a small team.
