About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled Mower Operator to join our team and help maintain turf and vegetation along roadsides and public spaces in the Christchurch region. In this position, you will work closely with a dedicated team to enhance the appearance and safety of our city's open spaces, ensuring that berms, medians, and roadside reserves are neat, tidy, and well-maintained.
You will operate various mowing equipment, including tractors, out-front mowers, walker mowers, and small plant machinery. It will be your responsibility to ensure that all equipment is well-maintained and that tasks are completed according to contract specifications, regardless of weather conditions. Additionally, you will support the Christchurch-based Open Space Maintenance teams with various tasks as needed. Flexibility is essential, and you may be required to work on weekends occasionally.
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you should bring the following qualifications and attributes:
- A current Class 1 driver's license; a Class 2 driver's license would be an advantage
- Relevant mowing experience is essential
- The ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
- A strong commitment to health and safety practices
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within the team
- Physical fitness and motivation to make a positive impact
- Traffic Management qualifications, such as TMO or STMS, are preferred but not mandatory
